The girl named Demi sees her as a burden that might sink their breakout attempt...and is determined to do something about it. Ever learns this when she and the three other teens decide to play a game--the three of them put on blindfolds and try to catch her. As the game unfolds, Ever realizes that Demi isn't playing to beat her. She's playing to kill her.

It is evident Helen Rena can craft a story.This is more of a teaser introduction to Helen Rena's book series than a standalone story, but it drew me in and kept me reading, and then I bought her next book.
In this short work we meet a girl called Ever, the main character, along with three complimentary characters (or perhaps opposing--we don't know yet for sure): Fox, Sin, and Demi. The author skillfully introduced them in the short pages of this little book. I look forward to continue reading Ever's story in "The Coldest Heart".

This is a great story. I enjoyed reading about this game and how it unravels. You are truly experiencing the world that Helen Rena has created. She is able to capture teenage emotions so well and I felt like I was in the bookstore as I read along. I highly recommend this book.
